The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Centre to explain its position on the allegations against ex-CJI KG Balakrishnan of having amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The court asked the Centre to inform it about action taken or its intent to do so on allegations against ex-CJI.

Last year, the Home Ministry had directed a probe into the various allegations against Balakrishnan.
Assets held by his family members are also under the scanner.
